| Partner Profile Santa Clara University, a comprehensive Jesuit, Catholic university located in California's Silicon Valley, is California's oldest operating higher-education institution. Santa Clara University is committed to developing a culture of sustainability with its students, faculty, and staff. The University signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment in 2007 and has a goal of becoming climate neutral by the end of 2015. The SCU campus is home to two Solar Decathlon award-winning solar houses (with a third participating in Solar Decathlon 2013!) SCU has 1,100.1 kW of onsite solar generation, a 10-kW wind turbine, a 60-collector solar thermal system, and is also purchasing wind power from its local utility to cover almost 100 percent of its electricity needs. | |
