Partner Profile
SUNY Cortland purchases renewable energy certificates (RECs) equal to more than 60 percent of the campus' yearly electricity use. The University is a charter signatory of the College and University President's Climate Commitment, and as such it is committed to both developing a sustainable future and to supporting the implementation of utility scale sustainable technology. Since starting to purchase RECs in the Fall of 2013, SUNY Cortland has been pleasantly surprised in the near universal approval from the campus community. The 2013-2014 fiscal year represents the first year with substantive renewable energy generated by the solar PV array at Dragon Hall, SUNY Cortland's LEED Platinum residence hall. For the next fiscal year, 2014-2015, we have started a power purchase agreement for a large solar array constructed on SUNY Cortland's property. This system is NOT reported in the current data, we will include that information next year.
