The Monarch School is a national leader in special education programs for children with neurological differences, and is one of Texas' healthiest and most sustainable K-12 school.
Since 2007, Monarch has purchased green power to cover all of its energy use to help improve statewide air quality for kids' health.
Monarch’s environmentally friendly Chrysalis building achieved 'Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR' (86 out of 100), LEED-NC v2.2 Gold certification, and three consecutive ENERGY STAR labels (currently 91 out of 100), saving more than $2.1 million on electricity over the life of the building, or more than 40% of the building's total costs.
Monarch hopes that its experience will inspire the nation's 130,000 K-12 schools. Monarch's green power purchase was and affordable and vital first step in its sustainability adventure.
