Partner Profile Swarthmore College's Earthlust, a student environmental group, launched a campaign to bring renewable energy to campus in 1997. While the college originally purchased two percent of its total electric energy from wind power, this percentage rose to eight percent in 2005 due to continued student involvement. Today in 2009, Swarthmore College has combined conservation measures with an increased commitment to renewable energy source development enabling the College to purchase in excess of 40 percent of its electrical power needs in wind energy credits. It's an important statement of the College's values when students and the administration can work collaboratively toward the goal of cleaner energy.
