Partner Profile The University of Iowa is using biomass to displace coal in one of its two solid fuel boilers. The Main Power Plant cogenerated nearly nine million kWh of electricity from steam produced with biomass, which represents nearly three percent of the electric power consumption on campus in 2008. The oat hulls were obtained from the Quaker Oats facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
