Proposed
study: to gain knowledge and experience for the traffic estimation and
modeling of traffic emissions in urban areas.
The objectives of the project are: 1) investigating how emission
inventories should be constructed in order to study air pollution
modeling, 2) learning how to use motor traffic models, 3) using the
emission data base simulation to help evaluate air quality in the Vilnius
area and provide a basis for an air quality improvement plan for Vilnius.
Final
Fellowship Report - Estimation and Modeling of the Traffic Emissions
in Urban Areas

Proposed
study: to become familiar with both the development of the Devil’s Lake
(WI) Mercury TMDL Air Deposition Pilot Project and the application of the
pilot project to other impaired waters through a broader state-wide or
region-wide strategy for mercury reduction.
The objectives are: 1) obtaining information/experiences on
multi-media strategy development for reducing releases of mercury, 2)
obtaining information on available rules, regulations, and other
initiatives to address mercury releases, 3) identifying opportunities for
broader application and implementation of the findings of the pilot
project.
Final
Fellowship Report - Mercury Problems in the US Great Lakes Region

Proposed
study: study oil pollution
and spills policies. The objectives are: 1) gain knowledge and experience
in developing policy in the area of protecting large water bodies from oil
pollution, 2) learn about international cooperation in the field of oil
pollution prevention (surveillance system, potential damage studies)

Proposed study: to conduct a comparative analyses of
the physical process responsible for nearshore-offshore water and mass
transport in the Gulf of Riga and Lake Michigan.
The objectives are: 1) research nearshore-offshore mass exchange,
2) analyses of model results from the Lake Michigan experiments to
quantify the significance of the physical processes, which are important
to the Gulf of Riga. |
