IMPLEMENTING THE BINATIONAL
TOXICS STRATEGY
Stakeholder Invitation
Dear Great Lakes Stakeholder:
Thank you for your interest and/or participation in the June 26, 1997, stakeholder meeting regarding the implementation of The Great Lakes Binational Toxics Strategy, co-sponsored by the United States Environmental Protection Agency/Great Lakes National Program Office (USEPA/GLNPO) and Environment Canada (EC). We would also like to thank you for your comments which many of you submitted to us after the meeting. Please be assured that we are taking these many thoughtful, insightful comments under consideration.
At the present time, we are reviewing all stakeholder comments and revising the Draft Implementation Plan accordingly. We anticipate having a completed Plan toward the end of November with another stakeholder meeting shortly after.
Attached, please find a copy of the draft workshop proceedings from the June 26th meeting entitled "Implementing the Binational Toxics Strategy, Stakeholders Meeting, June 26, 1997, Draft Proceedings". In addition, we have attached a summary document of the written comments received after the workshop.
Over the next few months, we will be contacting those of you who expressed interest in or volunteered for one of the chemical-specific workgroups. Thank you for volunteering to help on this most important endeavor.
If you have any questions on either the enclosed materials or other issues relating to the Binational Toxics Strategy, please contact Elizabeth LaPlante (312) 353-2694 or Tony Kizlauskas at (312) 353-8773.
As always, thank you for your continued interest in the Strategy.
Sincerely,
Vicki Thomas
Acting Director
