Timothy J. Buckley, Ph.D.

Title: Director

EPA Division: Human Exposure and Atmospheric Sciences Division

Tim Buckley, Ph.D.,  is the director of the Human Exposure and Atmospheric Sciences Division within the National Exposure Research Laboratory (HEASD).  Dr. Buckley assumed this position in September of 2012 after 16 years of research and teaching experience within academia (Johns Hopkins and Ohio State Schools of Public Health).  His work is broad ranging including the development and application of exposure methods, measurements, and models to chemical, physical, and biological stressors within community and occupational settings. Exposure is treated comprehensively considering all relevant routes and pathways and typically includes biomonitoring to further inform exposure.  These studies have been applied in the context of health studies to evaluate environmental determinants of cancer, neurotoxic, and respiratory risk, as well as children’s asthma. His work is strongly tied to the environmental interests and concerns of communities and has led the identification of environmental justice issues. His research has led to numerous funded grants and publication of more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles.
