James Starr

Title: Research Physical Scientist

EPA Division: Human Exposure and Atmospheric Sciences

EPA Branch: Methods Development and Applications

Narrative:
James’ expertise and main research focus is the development and application of new methods to analyze pesticides in environmental, animal, and human studies. Currently James uses LC/MS/MS analysis to improve sensitivity and specificity. His research in this area is a collaboration with NERL and NHEERL investigators to provide data for PBPK models. He also conducts research on pyrethroid pesticide fate and transport issues to include multi-media, multi-pathway studies to identify those physical chemical properties, pathways, and activities that represent the highest potential exposures. This information is used by the agency to determine the factors that are important in determining exposures and result in refinements of the inputs for exposure models.
