Peter D. Robertson

Peter D. Robertson was named Acting Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency effective October 1, 1998. Before that he served as the Agency's Chief of Staff starting in January 1995. From 1994 to 1995, he was Deputy Assistant Administrator for Solid Waste and Emergency Response.
Before he came to the EPA, Robertson was an attorney at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Patton, Boggs and Blow. He specialized in both environmental and legislative law, particularly CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.
Robertson has also served as a senior staff member of the Committee on the Budget of the U.S. House of Representatives and as a legislative staff member for former Representative James R. Jones (D-OK). During his tenure on the Committee, he was, at various times, the budget analyst for national security, transportation, administration of justice, and general government functions.
Robertson has contributed chapters to several books on environmental law, including "Safe Drinking Water Act" in the Environmental Law Handbook (1994) and Title III - Air Toxics (1992), both published by the Bureau of National Affairs. He has addressed numerous conferences on environmental law and environmental legislation.
He received his undergraduate degree with distinction in 1978 from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1987.
