Wilson K. Talley
Biography

Wilson K. Talley has been confirmed by the Senate to be Assistant Administrator for Research and Development of the Environmental Protection Agency.
EPA Administrator Russell E. Train said the 39-year-old scientist from Oakland, California, would succeed Stanley M. Greenfield who resigned May 24, 1974.
Train said Talley in his new post wold head all Agency research activities covering air, water, pesticides, radiation, noise and solid waste.
His most recent position was Study Director of the Commission on Critical Choices for Americans. From 1971 to 1974 he served as Assistant Vice President for Academic Planning and Program Review in the Office of the President of the University of California.
In 1969 he was named Special Assistant to the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, serving until 1970. He then served as a consultant to the University of California Lawrence Livermore Laboratory until he became leader of the Laboratory's Theoretical Physics Division in 1971. From 1963 to the present he has held positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in the Department of Applied Science at the University of California, and served as Vice Chairman and Acting Chairman of the Department during 1966-1969.
Born on January 27, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, Talley received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of California in 1956. He was awarded his master's degree in 1958 from the University of Chicago and his doctorate in Nuclear Engineering form the University of California in 1963.
