John H. Hankinson, Jr.

Biography

President Clinton today named John H. Hankinson Jr to be Regional Administrator for EPA's Region 4 office, headquartered in Atlanta. In this position, he will direct federal environmental programs in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

"John Hankinson's experience in dealing with environmental issues makes him a superb addition to EPA's management team," said, EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner. "I look forward to working with him to implement the Administration's environmental policies."

From 1988 to present, Hankinson was Director of the Planning and Acquisition Department, St. Johns River Water Management district, Palatka, Florida, and from 1986 to 1988 he held the position of Director of the Office of Land Acquisition for the District. He also served as Director of Coastal and Land Use Programs for the Legal Environment Assistance Foundation, Tallahassee, Florida, and as Senior Policy Analyst in Florida Governor Bob Graham's Office of Planning and Budgeting.

Hankinson received his bachelor's degree from Florida Presbyterian College in 1970 and his law degree from the University of Florida in 1979.
