James J. Scherer
Biography

EPA Administrator Lee M. Thomas has named James Scherer to be the new Regional Administrator for Region 8, which has its main office in Denver. He succeeds John Welles, who resigned in February.
Mr. Scherer served as a Colorado State representative from 1982 to 1986. During that tie the Denver area and past President of Compacts Only Rent-A-Car System and First City Lease Corporation. Scherer graduated from Notre Dame University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts in 1958.
Thomas said, "Jim Scherer comes to the agency with impressive management skills and excellent experience in state government. We are fortunate to have him join us at EPA and look forward to working with him."
Mr. Scherer, 50, is married and has three children. He lives in Idaho Springs, Colorado.
Region 8 covers Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.
