Regional Workshop - Tyngsboro, MA (June 14, 2007)
In conjunction with the Northeast Waste Management Official's Association (NEWMOA)
, EPA held a regional workshop entitled "Chemicals in Commerce: Using Data on High Production Volume (HPV) Chemicals" on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at the Boston University Conference Center in Tyngsboro, MA. The objectives of the workshop were to:
- Familiarize participants with data that is available on the HPV chemicals through the HPV Challenge Program and efforts in other countries
- Provide examples of HPV data use
- Develop ideas for how agencies and programs in New England can use this data within their region
Attendees of the workshop included federal, state, and local health and environmental officials, as well as representatives of non-governmental and community organizations, academic researchers, and selected industry representatives and consultants.
The workshop consisted of presentations from federal and state government, non-governmental organization, and academia representatives on accessing, reviewing, and utilizing health and environmental effects data made available for HPV chemicals from the HPV Challenge Program and other sources. Presentations also provided a chance for individuals to discuss how HPV data could be used in their particular region.
