Sponsored Chemicals
The chemicals on this list are being sponsored by Companies or
Consortia in the HPV Challenge Program either directly through commitments
made under the Challenge, or indirectly through the International Council
of Chemical Associations (ICCA) Initiative on HPV Chemicals. To be
included in this list, the Agency received full or provisional commitments
identifying these chemicals under the HPV Challenge Program, or notice of
confirmed commitments identifying these chemicals under the ICCA HPV
Initiative, by January 20, 2006. Only those chemicals confirmed by ICCA
are included on this list. More details on the commitments relating to
these chemicals, including which Companies or Consortia may be sponsoring
them and the year of the Program during which information on each of the
chemicals will become publicly available, appear in the Summary Report page on
the website.
Some companies have volunteered to sponsor additional
chemicals that do not appear on the HPV Challenge Program Chemical List.
Although these chemicals are not technically within the scope of the HPV
Challenge Program, the Agency welcomes their sponsorship and has included
them on the following list. For more information on these chemicals, see
the 1994 List of HPV
Additions or the list of Additional Chemicals
Sponsored Under the HPV Challenge Program. Some of these chemicals are
non-US HPV chemicals which carry European identification numbers and which
do not appear on the TSCA Inventory. These chemicals can be found on the
ICCA HPV working list of chemicals, which can be found at www.icca-chem.org/hpv.
In order to standardize the chemical names of the HPV Challenge Program chemical lists, EPA is changing the chemical names to reflect the Chemical Abstracts (CA) 9th Collective Index (9CI) names. Ninth Collective Index names are those used for the TSCA Inventory. Changes have been made to the following lists only: the HPV Challenge Program Chemical List, the 1994 List of HPV Additions, the Additional Chemicals Sponsored Under the HPV Challenge Program, and the Sponsored Chemicals List. Please note that chemical name changes are not highlighted on these lists. Chemical names on the HPV Challenge Summary Report have not been changed. Additional changes to chemical names will occur with future website updates as the Agency continues to review and modify its lists to reflect the appropriate chemical names.

chemical on this list does not indicate that the chemical is going to be
subject to new testing.
Companies sponsoring chemicals in the
HPV Challenge Program agree to provide and make public basic hazard
information on the chemical. Where such information already exists and
adequately characterizes the chemical, the Company can fulfill its
obligations under the Program by making that existing information public.
New testing on these chemicals will be undertaken only where existing data
are not adequate to provide an understanding of the chemicals' health and
environmental effects, and such testing will be used only to fill the
existing gaps in data.
