Priority Chemicals Trends Report (1991-2002)
Federal vs. State: Federal
Description: This report tracks progress being made toward EPA goals, under the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), to reduce the quantity of priority chemicals contained in RCRA wastes. Progress toward meeting two GPRA goals is presented: 1) a new 2008 GPRA goal to reduce priority chemicals in RCRA wastes by 10 percent, using a 2001 baseline, and 2) the original 2005 GPRA goal to reduce priority chemicals in hazardous waste by 50 percent, using a 1991 baseline. The Trends Report shows trends, over the most recent five-year period (1998-2002), concerning the generation and management of the priority chemicals by National, EPA Region, State, and industry sector levels. Hazardous Waste Biennial Report (BR) data for waste streams believed to contain these priority chemicals also is included. This update of the Trends Report also, for the first time, specifically presents the generation and management trends for the priority chemicals at Federal facilities.
EPA plans to annually update this report, using the most recent Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data available to examine waste generation and management trends for the priority chemicals. The Trends Report and associated facility-specific data are only accessible at the website indicated below.
