Maryland ('94 - Recycling Economic Development Advocate [REDA]) || PDF version (4 pp., 85 KB, About PDF)
Now concluded, this project surpassed all the original targets for jobs, investment, and capacity expansion. State funding for recycling companies included a $1 million loan guarantee and over $200,000 in employee training grants. The state has made the REDA position permanent within the Division of Business Development. Ongoing activities will include a concentration on mixed paper, wood, produce residuals, gypsum wallboard, and roofing shingles.

Maryland ('96 - Market Development Project)
This project funded a Market Development Specialist position in Maryland's Department of the Environment to perform a variety of tasks. With JTR funding, the specialist helped create the Maryland Construction and Demolition Debris Recycling Directory, develop a database of Maryland recycling processors and manufacturers, develop and distribute fact sheets on state and local permitting issues, and initiate a series of regional seminars for local economic development officials. It also helped the department foster valuable relationships with state and local officials as well as regional small business development centers.
