Furniture Polish:
What is it?
Furniture polishes are used to get the dust and fingerprints off of furniture and to protect the wood from water. Furniture polish may come as liquid, paste or in an aerosol. Each will contain chemicals that help in the application of the wax or oil to the furniture.
What's in it?
Furniture cleaners that are made for wood may contain petroleum distillates and oil of cedar.
What health and safety precautions do you need to think about with furniture polish?
The chemicals in furniture polish may irritate your skin, eyes, and respiratory tract (that is your throat, lungs and wind pipe). If ingested, furniture polish can cause nausea, vomiting, and medical help should be sought. Befor using these products, you need to be sure to always "Read the Label First" to know how to properly use these products and for safety information. Make sure there is good air circulation in the room in which you use these products, that is have a window fully open. Using a fan in the window blowing out provides even better ventilation. Keep the bottles out of the reach of small children when you are using it. Because some products may look drinkable, like orange soda or milk, children can be accidental poisoned if they drink them.
