OSC Request for Proposals for National Smart Growth Conference Planning
(EPA-OP-OSC-13-01)

EPA's Office of Sustainable Communities (OSC) focuses on smart growth issues of regional and national significance. Smart growth supports national environmental and public health goals by protecting sensitive watersheds, minimizing water quality impacts from development, reducing air emissions by increasing transportation choices, and encouraging clean-up and sustainable redevelopment of brownfield sites.

Through this Request For Proposals (RFP), EPA is seeking proposals for organizing a series of national smart growth conferences over a period of five years. Each conference will be a multi-disciplinary event that focuses on diverse smart growth issues and attracts a large and varied audience. EPA will award one cooperative agreement to include substantial federal involvement. EPA expects to award $140,000 for Year 1 with the possibility of additional, incremental funding of up to $800,000 in total over a five-year project period.

Proposal submissions are due by Monday, November 26, 2012 at 5:00 p.m., EST.

Please contact Regina Langton with questions about this RFP at 202-566-2178 or Langton.regina@epa.gov

Technical Assistance Programs for Sustainable Communities

On August 30, 2011, EPA awarded cooperative agreements to the Cascade Land Conservancy, Green USA, Project for Public Spaces, and Smart Growth America to create and deliver technical assistance programs to local and tribal governments facing land use and development challenges. The awardees will provide technical assistance to multiple communities using standardized, "ready to go" tools that can lead to changes in local policies and development regulations.

These awards were made in response to a competitive request for proposals titled "Technical Assistance Programs for Sustainable Communities" (EPA-OP-OSC-11-01). Submissions for that RFP were due March 31, 2011.
