- GLRA, a municipal authority of 25 members who represent the 26 municipalities of Lebanon County, and PPL Renewable Energy constructed a renewable energy classroom within PPL's facility that houses LFG-powered generators. The facility provides citizens, students, and others an opportunity to see firsthand the benefits of conservation and the relative benefit, space consumption, and power production of solar, wind, and LFG energy facilities. The generators are visible through soundproof windows in the classroom. The facility was completed in 2007 and commercial power production began on September 13, 2007. PPL provided a solar panel and installed a functional wind turbine for examination outside the building. Power production from the three functional renewable energy sources is displayed, live, on a screen within the classroom and on the GLRA website. Field trips from elementary school through college are welcome, particularly college or University classes in environmental science, physics, or electrical engineering.
