- The South Carolina Association of Counties, chartered on June 22, 1967, is the only organization dedicated to statewide representation and improvement of county government in SC. A non-partisan, non-profit organization with a full time staff in Columbia, it represents county governments -- not county employees. The SCAC's purposes include: promoting more efficient county governments; studying, discussing, and recommending improvements in government; and collecting, analyzing, and distributing information about county government.
