Landfill Methane Outreach Program

International Activities

International Resources

Global Methane Initiative Exiting EPA is an international Partnership working to reduce global methane emissions from landfills, underground coal mines, natural gas and oil systems, and animal waste management while creating clean, sustainable energy.

International Landfill Inventory and Economic Data
U.S. EPA data on international greenhouse gas emissions and costs associated with reducing emissions from landfills and LFG energy projects may be obtained from the Economic and Inventory, International Analyses website.

LMOP's efforts to promote landfill gas (LFG) recovery and use extends beyond U.S. borders. Internationally, LMOP works with organizations to promote LFG recovery and use by offering a variety of outreach, education and technical assistance services to countries interested in LFG energy project development. If you are interested in learning more about our international efforts and are currently developing, or considering developing, LFG energy projects outside of the United States, please visit the Global Methane Initiative website Exiting EPA.

Landfill Gas Modeling Tools

LMOP has assessed the technical and economic feasibility of LFG energy project development at selected landfills in a number of countries around the world — conducting energy project assessments and outreach and trainings in major cities, as well as developing international LFG generation models.
