MPN Software Program
This program is used for calculating MPN (Most Probable Number) and confidence limits values. The upgraded Windows-based MPN Calculator integrates into a single file and replaces the old DOS-based MPN.exe and MPNV.exe programs. Usage of the latter was required by Section VIII of the ICR Microbial Laboratory Manual.
The downloadable User Manual describes the full functionality and limitations of the new program. Warning: the MPN Calculator cannot be used for some unusual combinations of positive values from replicate dilutions. Please see Section 2.2 entitled "Limitations on MPN Calculator Usage" in the manual for a full descriptions of the limitations.
Installation Instructions
To install the MPN program, download the EPA - MPN-Setup.msi file. After downloading, double click on the file and follow the file's installation instructions.
Please notify Dr. Shay Fout at fout.shay@epa.gov concerning problems with the installation or use of the program or with any suggestions for its improvement. Note: some early Microsoft Windows and non-Microsoft platforms may not run files with an "msi" extension. Should this problem occur, an executable file and instructions for installing the MPN program are available upon request.
