Nichole E. Brinkman

Title: Biologist

EPA Division: Microbiological and Chemical Exposure Assessment Research Division

EPA Branch: Biohazard Assessment Research Branch

Nichole’s research involves improving the understanding of diversity of viral contaminants in water and relating their presence to the potential risk of exposure to the public through consumption or recreation. She has completed some work evaluating methods designed to isolate viruses from water and developed a microarray that facilitates the detection and genotyping of noroviruses present in water. More recently, she has focused on the persistence of enteroviruses in aquatic matrices to determine the influence persistence has on diversity in the water environment.
