EPA Branch: Microbial Exposure Research Branch

Experience in development of molecular detection and genotyping methods for mycobacteria in the environment for understanding human exposure. In addition, molecular methods are being developed to characterize environmental strains of mycobacteria in order to determine the prevalence of strains that may pose a risk to humans. Prevalence of mycobacteria is being assessed in source water used for drinking water, drinking water, and pipe biofilm.
