Map of Villages and Bridge

The New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge, built in 1798 to connect the villages on the east and west shore, altered currents in the harbor and as a result impacted the pattern of development in the area. The coastline shown in this figure was digitized from a map by Hatting (1855).
