Decision support can take many forms, from tools tailored to provide data on specific problems to information that gives a context for decision making. For example, water resource managers may use models to explore the effect of changes in climate variables such as temperature and precipitation on nutrient loads and the sensitivity of aquatic life to those changes in loads. Deciding how to prevent possible threshold changes identified through sensitivity analyses requires different tools that enable exploration of the performance of different nutrient control strategies under a broad range of potential future changes in temperature and precipitation. In support of these needs, we provide climate and land use change projections to our partners and stakeholders, and collaborate with them to develop other tools that enable model exploration of natural and human system sensitivities and evaluation of policies and management decisions under uncertainty.
