Global Change Impacts & Adaptation
Stormwater and Climate Change
Changes in the amount, timing, and intensity of rain events in combination with land development can affect the amount of stormwater runoff that needs to be controlled. In some regions of the country, the combination of climate and land use change may make existing stormwater-related flooding worse, while other areas may be less affected. We examine approaches to incorporate climate change into local stormwater management planning and alternative stormwater management practices (or stormwater control measures), such as green infrastructure options, to adapt to changing future conditions.
