Title: Catching the Wind: A Low Cost Method for Wind Power Site Assessment
Humboldt State University students will design software that predicts wind energy potential and will install a monitoring system at a test site to evaluate it. Current methods of site assessment are too time consuming and expensive to be economically feasible on a small or medium scale. The group will create software which uses short term wind data at a new site and existing, long term weather data from nearby stations to predict wind energy potential.
