Title: Community-Scale Water Treatment System for Application in Developing Countries

According to the World Health Organization, roughly 800 million people lack access to safe drinking water. A student team from Purdue University is developing community-level water treatment technologies that require little or no electricity and can be built with locally-available materials. They will then implement a system at a primary school in Las Canas, Dominican Republic, followed by expansion of similar systems in the surrounding community.
