Today's Air Quality Maps
OZONE AND PARTICLE POLLUTION
Maps showing the current estimated Air Quality Index (AQI) maps for ground-level ozone are available during the ozone season while current estimated particle AQI maps are available year round. These maps are created by the Air Quality Mapping System from ozone and particle data gathered from a nationwide network of state and local air monitoring stations. The maps show 8-hour average ozone concentrations and 24-hour average particle concentrations in accordance with EPA's Air Quality Index for ozone and particle pollution.
NOTE: EPA established a tighter fine particle standard in the fall of 2006 to better protect public health. The AQI is not yet aligned with this more stringent PM2.5 standard. Therefore, health risk associated with elevated levels of particle pollution may be underestimated.
