Databases
EPA's mission in exposure research is to understand the extent and nature of exposure of humans and ecosystems to pollution and other environmental stressors. This research has resulted in the creation of many databases of information, which provide scientists with valuable resources for studying exposure and for developing approaches to reduce exposure.
- HEDS is the Human Exposure Database System. HEDS is an integrated online database system that allows users to review a growing archive of human exposure studies. The database includes chemical measurements, questionnaire responses, and other information related to EPA research on human exposure to environmental contaminants.
- CHAD is the Consolidated Human Activities Database, which compiles information on day-to-day human activities collected at city, state, and national levels. Using CHAD, scientists can look at ways that certain behaviors expose people to chemicals.
- Water Resources Database (WRDB)
Originally designed to help the Georgia Environmental Protection Department handle large amounts of water-related data for the Chattahoochee River, WRDB was adapted into a general-use data management tool suitable for researchers studying or modeling any water system. - Environmental Science
This website includes instructions for obtaining and using several environmental science-related databases and software packages developed by EPA exposure scientists.
