Larry Wymer

Title: Mathematical Statistician

EPA Division: Microbiological and Chemical Exposure Assessment Research Division

EPA Branch: Microbial Exposure Research Branch

Narrative:
Larry’s research has focuses on improving recreational water monitoring methods and statistical techniques, understanding the spatial and temporal dispersion of indicator organisms in the waterbody, and developing a sound framework by understanding risk relationships involved in water contact. Another area of research is in collaborative study design, working with organizations to improve standards for validating new chemical and microbiological methods for water monitoring. He also provides statistical support for various MCEARD projects, which recently have included fate and transport of the qPCR signal through waste water treatment to source, development of immunoassay using saliva samples to assess exposure to waterborne pathogens, virus recoveries using various concentration and adsoption techniques, and infectivity of viruses among diverse cell lines.
