STATSGO Soils
As with all areas, the Upper White River study area (21,848 km²) has varied soils throughout. The State Soil Geographic (STATSGO) data base was designed to map soil types at regional, multistate, river basin, State, and multicounty resource planning scales. Applicable portions of STATSGO data bases are used to assess landscape condition among four 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) regions and 244 smaller subwatersheds of varying sizes, in an effort to determine the vulnerability of water quality throughout the area.
