APPCD Branches
Air Pollution Technology Branch (APTB) is part of EPA's National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL), Air Pollution Prevention and Control Division (APPCD), and is located at Research Triangle Park, NC.
Combustion research has been conducted by APTB and its predecessors since the EPA's beginning. APTB has been instrumental in the development and successful application of flue gas desulfurization systems on utility power plants.
APTB also applies its expertise in pollution formation and control to objectively evaluate control technologies for stationary sources of air pollution. Its unique in-house skills and facilities provide rapid response and long-term support for the Office of Research and Development's (ORD) scientific mission, agency policy formulation, program office regulatory development. APTB is also committed to supporting state and regional office implementation.
