Air and Climate Change Research
Amara Holder
Dr. Amara Holder joined EPA in January 2011 as an EPA federal post-doc. Amara received a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of California Berkeley, where she investigated the properties of diesel emissions affecting human health. Since joining the NRML/APPCD team, her research interests have expanded to include the effects of combustion generated particles on the earth’s climate. She is currently developing a comprehensive set of measurements of the optical properties of particles from a variety of combustion sources. This information will be used to estimate the short-term, regional, and seasonal climate impacts from black carbon emissions from these sources.
