Assistant Laboratory Director (ALD)

The Assistant Laboratory Director (ALD) reports to the NRMRL Laboratory Director, who provides overall general planning, direction coordination, and policy guidance. The ALD coordinates their activities closely with NRMRL Division Directors (Title 42), other Assistant Laboratory Directors and US EPA Office of Research and Development National Program Directors. The program areas that ALDs address represent major EPA programs which are broad in scope and involve numerous scientific and engineering disciplines. These positions play a major role in formulating and incorporating into NRMRL, research plans for EPS's program to investigate risk management alternatives for protection human health and the environment. The are principal liaison with NRMRL's clients. They are responsible for insuring that research in their area of responsibility is well integrated within NRMRL and with related research programs inside and outside US EPA. The research programs that ALDs represent are being carried out at numerous locations through intramural research projects and extramural arrangements with academic and other scientific institutions.

Associate Division Director (ADD)

The Associate Division Director reports to the Division Director and exercises supervisory management responsibilities over staff members; works with the Division Director to develop and implement a multi-million dollar research program; assists and advises the Division Director in the formulation of goals and objectives; promotes understanding and effective use of all administrative resources and infrastructure critical to the achievement of the mission, strategic goals, and quality science.

Division Branch Chiefs

The Branch Chief reports to the Division Director (DD). The Branch Chief serves as first-line supervisor for a staff of researchers, technicians, and secretarial/clerical staff. As the supervisor, the branch chief provides direction, guidance, advice and assistance to the Branch staff in all administrative matters and in technical matters, as appropriate; sets priorities for Branch products; evaluates performance; resolves complaints and disputes within the Branch; and handles appropriate personnel actions and issues, including recommending promotions, approving leave, and interviewing and recommending candidates for positions within the Branch. The Branch Chief consults with and advises the DD on technical and administrative issues affecting the Branch. Together with technical experts and team leaders within the Branch and from other Branches, the Branch Chief proposes and plans research and development projects and outputs to meet Divisional, Laboratory, and Agency objectives.
