ESTCP Field Demonstration
Camp Le Jeune Demonstration
ESTCP Field Demonstration
Overview:
In 1998, the EPA initiated research on a new pervaporation module in which the module vibrates to reduce surface fouling and enhance mass transport. This new pervaporation system was part of a SEAR/surfactant recycling field validation project funded by the Department of Defense Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (DoD ESTCP). The field work at Marine Corps Base Camp Le Jeune was completed in 1999.
Camp Le Jeune ESTCP Demonstration EPA Accomplishments
- Continuous operation for 70 days
- 100,000 gallons of graoundwater & SEAR fluid processed
- > 95% pce removal - met regulatory requirement for reinjection
- 102% PCE mass balance closure
- No fouling problems
- First full-scale vibrating pervap unit
