Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program
Upcoming Advanced Monitoring Systems Stakeholder Meetings
In February, the ETV Advanced Monitoring Systems (AMS) Center will host meetings of its Air and Water Stakeholder Committees in Sacramento, CA. The AMS Water Stakeholder Committee, which will meet on February 21, will discuss verification activities for ballast water screening tools, groundwater samplers, temperature sensors, and chemical oxygen demand technologies. Trina Mackie with the Klamath Watershed Institute will present on technology needs associated with blue-green algae/microcystin problems facing the Klamath Region. The AMS Air Stakeholder Committee, which will meet on February 22, will discuss verification activities for personal cascade impactor samplers, mercury emission monitors, continuous particulate matter monitors, and emission monitors for the semiconductor industry. Kevin Cleary of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) will present on CARB’s Innovative Clean Air Technologies Program. ETV Publishes Technology Briefs
Five new technology briefs are now available on the ETV Web site. The briefs are: Baghouse Filtration Products, ETV and Energy, Fuel Cells, Green Building Technologies, and Microtubines/Combined Heat and Power (CHP). The ETV Program is targeting technology categories and topical areas to create two-page summaries of technologies verified, or in-process of being verified, and their performance. If available, environmental, human health and regulatory, as well as other, outcomes of technology verification are also discussed and are taken from the in-depth case studies published in ETV Program Case Studies: Demonstrating Program Outcomes, Volumes I and II. Additional technology briefs will be available soon on the ETV Web site.

ETV Air Pollution Control Technology Center
Solicits Technology Vendors
Diesel Engine Retrofit Emissions Control Technologies: Retrofit
technologies that control emissions of particulate matter, nitrogen
oxides, hydrocarbons, or carbon monoxide from heavy duty diesel
engines. Technologies include add-on devices such as exhaust
catalysts and particulate matter filters, engine modifications,
selective catalytic reduction systems, fuel modifications and
reformulations, alternative fuels, and lubricants used on mobile
diesel engines and some categories of stationary engines.
Verification of these technologies, when used to reduce nitrogen
oxide emissions, is of interest to Texas' New Technology Research
and Development (NTRD) Program, as well as others. Interested

Fabric Filter Media: Filter media used in baghouses to control fine
particulate matter. For more information, please contact Drew Trenholm, RTI, at (919) 316-3742.
Ventilation Air Cleaning or Filtration Technologies: Products for
cleaning or filtering ventilation air. Verifications can include
ASHRAE 52.2-type efficiency testing for particles from 0.3 to 10
microns, efficiency testing for particles from 0.03 to 10 microns,
and efficiency testing for bioaerosols (fungi, bacteria, and virus).

ETV Drinking Water Systems Center
Solicits Technology Vendors
The DWS Center, operated by National Sanitation Foundation International (NSF International), invites vendors
and partners to participate in verification tests of the following
technologies:
Drinking Water Treatment Technologies: Technologies designed to
assist in compliance with the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface
Water Treatment Rule, the Groundwater Rule, the Arsenic Rule,
and emerging issues. Technologies that may be applicable include
membrane separation, adsorptive media, ultraviolet radiation, and
on-site disinfection generators. Other alternative technologies will
also be considered.
The DWS Center is also interested in mobile package drinking
water treatment systems that could be used for emergency water
supplies and as permanent installations at small communities.

ETV Greenhouse Gas Technology Center
Solicits Technology Vendors
The GHG Center, operated by Southern Research Institute,
is soliciting collaborators and vendors of the following
technologies for independent performance verification testing:
Distributed Electrical Generation and Combined Heating/Cooling
and Power Technologies: Technologies associated with distributed
electrical generation (i.e., fuel cells, Stirling engines, reciprocating
engines), including combined heating/cooling and power
applications (e.g., waste heat recovery for space heating, water
heating, chillers/refrigeration, dehumidification, etc.) utilizing
various fuels (natural gas, hydrogen, biofuels, etc.). For more

Fuel Efficient Technologies for Heavy and Light Duty Vehicles:
These technologies include hybrids, engine and driveline
lubricants, novel transmissions (CVTs and others), idle reduction,

Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions for the Semiconductor
Processing Industry: Technologies associated with semiconductor

| June 17-20, 2007 - The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) 2007 Annual International Meeting will be held June 17-20, in Minneapolis, MN. The event is designed to provide agricultural and biological engineers with specialized technical session presentations and divisional poster sessions to inform the industry on cutting-edge technologies and the latest research. (A&WMA) 100th Annual Conference and Exhibition will be held
June 26-29, in Pittsburgh, PA. The theme of this year's conference is "Energizing Environmental Solutions." Drew Trenholm of RTI International, center manager for the ETV Air Pollution Control Technology Center, will present a paper entitled, "Environmental Technology Verification of Baghouse Filtration Products."
