NAPL Source Removal
Title: Cost of NAPL Source Removal in Soil and Ground Water Cleanup
Description:
Soil contamination with non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) such as petroleum hydrocarbon has been recognized as a long-term problem which cannot be easily solved through conventional remediation methods such as pump and treat. New technologies (e.g., chemical high energy, physical enforcement) to enhance the extraction process are being tested. This project will assess the cost-effectiveness of a variety of new technologies which are expected to have higher capital costs but lower short-term operating costs than conventional technologies.
