Stormwater Flow Control Technologies

Title: Cost Effectiveness of Stormwater Flow Control Technologies

Description:

EPA’s Phase II Stormwater program potentially applies to 5,700 municipalities and 1.1 commercial, institutional, and retail sources. The pollutants associated with stormwater include visible matter, infectious microorganisms, oxygen-demanding materials, suspended solids, nutrients, and toxicants. One estimate of the cost of controlling stormwater pollution through best management practices was $400 billion in capital costs and annual operation and maintenance costs of over $500 billion per year. The objectives of this effort were to collect data on stormwater quantity and quality control facilities’ costs and performance, review cost-effectiveness, and identify technology gaps and research needs.

Status: Completed.
