EPA Cincinnati’s water technology collaboration and transfer initiative advances research, development, and deployment (RD&D) in the Cincinnati, Dayton, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana regions to provide cost-effective and timely solutions to protect human health and the environment.
We promote innovation in the water technology sector through RD&D collaboration among internal and external partners in the region, technology transfer, and assistance to EPA researchers in protecting intellectual property. The need for sustainable water resource management is identified in the EPA Drinking Water Strategy, Safe Drinking Water Act and Amendments, and Clean Water Act, and by our collaboration partners.
EPA Cincinnati (PDF) (2 pp, 348 KB) is one of the largest federal R&D water laboratories in the country with over 500,000 square feet of facility space, more than 180 laboratories, and more than 1,050 federal and contract personnel. Research programs target health, environmental, chemical, and security risks; protect America’s waters; assess human health and ecosystem exposure; analyze pollutants; and aspire to environmental sustainability. Researchers develop marketable ideas, develop prototypes, and test and evaluate technologies ready for the marketplace.
