The focus of the demonstration project is to increase the radioanalytical capability and capacity of the selected laboratories; particularly in relation to the sample demand resulting from a nuclear or radiological Incident of National Significance (INS). The USEPA requires detector systems intended to be used for general purpose radioanalysis of a wide range of sample types, including water, soil, and 2” and 4” filter papers, at a fixed laboratory in Topeka, Kansas.
