NAICS – 813920. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Air and Radiation (OAR) Radiation Protection Division (RPD) intends to award a sole source firm-fixed-price Purchase Order for $20,000.00 under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures to the American Statistical Association (ASA) for a final report, a copy of the conference proceedings and joint-sponsorship of the ASA 2012 Conference entitled “Late Effects of Radiation Exposure: New Statistical, Epidemiological and Biological Approaches” to be held in Kennebunkport, Maine on June 10-13, 2012.
The 2012 conference will include sessions on late effects of radiation treatment for childhood cancers, radiation and cardiovascular disease, as well as site specific cancer sessions on leukemia, breast and thyroid cancer. Topics will be approached in a broad-based manner encompassing several central issues: exposure estimation and dosimetry, continued development of modeling approaches, effects of low doses, recent epidemiologic findings, and integration of epidemiological and biological information including evidence for radiation interactions with individual host factors and other exposures. In addition, there will be a special lecture on Fukushima. The meeting is intentionally kept small (less than 100 participants) to encourage informal discussion and personal interaction. Benefits to EPA include: education on the latest research in issues related to radiation health; an atmosphere for the exchange of ideas, critical review and to promote synergism between the various disciplines represented by the participants; to identify key areas where additional research is needed and to stimulate interest in new approaches to key problems.
NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of meeting EPA’s requirements as stated herein may submit a capability statement, which if received by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Responses to this posting must be in writing and provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. A determination not to compete the proposed Purchase Order based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
