PM-2.5 Design Value NotesReturn to Report
Design value data can be found at http://www.epa.gov/airtrends/values.html
2006 PM-2.5 area designations were effective on December 14, 2009.
All of the areas designated nonattainment for the 2006 PM-2.5 standard violated the 24-hour standard.
Three 2006 PM-2.5 areas at designation had incomplete data with respect to the 24-hour PM2.5 NAAQS. In each of these three areas, one or more sites for which compliance cannot be determined for 2006-2008 clearly violated the NAAQS in a previous period (e.g., for 2005-2007). For these three areas the 2005-2007 design values are: Canton-Massillon, OH (36 ug/m3), Johnstown, PA (39 ug/m3), and Knoxville-Sevierville-La Follette, TN (37 ug/m3).
1997 PM-2.5 area designations were effective on April 5, 2005.
All of the areas designated nonattainment for the 1997 PM-2.5 standards violated the annual standard. Two 1997 PM-2.5 areas also violated the 24-hour standard of 65 ug/m3 (Los Angeles: 72 ug/m3, and San Joaquin Valley: 76 ug/m3.)
