FY 2000 Core Performance Measures

Important Note: Since the last revision to the core performance measures in 2000, EPA and states embarked on a variety of projects to address information and reporting challenges. By 2004, EPA the Core Performance Measures had been superceded by the results of these efforts. However, some EPA regions and states still use the Core Performance Measures as the starting point for negotiating the measures and reporting in performance partnership agreements and grants.

Two other documents were issued with the FY 2000 core performance measures. The Crosswalk of GPRA Annual Performance Measures and NEPPS Core Performance Measures (PDF) (7 pp, 22K, About PDF) show the relationship between the core performance measures for states and the annual performance measures that EPA was required to report under GPRA for FY 2000.

An addendum to the 1997 joint statement on measuring progress (PDF) (3 pp, 16K, About PDF) under NEPPS - Clarifying the Use and Applicability of Core Performance Measures (PDF) (6 pp, 34K, About PDF)-- explained that the measures are meant to help paint a national picture of environmental progress, but can be adjusted to address state needs and priorities.
