Federal Register Notice:  September 21, 1984

Conditions at listing (September 1983): Ciba-Geigy Corp. produces industrial organic chemicals, pesticides, agricultural chemicals, and synthetic resins on a 1,500-acre site in McIntosh, Alabama, 50 miles north of Mobile. In the past, waste was disposed of in several on-site landfills and an open burning area located on a bluff line on the eastern side of the plant complex. About 2,200 residents of McIntosh receive drinking water from a public well within 3 miles of the plant.

Status (June 1984): EPA is considering various alternatives for the site.
