What is the Presidential Management Fellows Program?
- The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program, initiated in 1977, attracts outstanding masters, JD and doctoral-level graduates to the federal service. This two-year fellowship program enables candidates who have completed graduate degree requirements to be appointed to Federal positions as Presidential Management Fellows and to be converted to a permanent Federal civil service position following successful completion of the fellowship.

What do Presidential Management Fellows do at EPA?
- During their appointments, PMFs assume the duties and responsibilities of full-time staff, working on substantive issues in their home office. Presidential Management Fellows at EPA are often hired as Environmental Protection Specialists, Program Analysts, or Special Assistants. Approximately ten PMFs have joined EPA each year, and over seventy Presidential Management Fellows Alumni are employed at EPA.
