Summary
This active ingredient is structurally similar to other plant growth regulators commonly found in plant tissues, and seems also to help inhibit the sprouting of potatoes during storage. 2, 6-DIPN is intended for use in the manufacturing of pesticide products intended to prevent sprouting of stored potatoes. When used according to label directions, this active ingredient is not expected to harm people or the environment.

2, 6-DIPN is similar in its structure and function to naturally occurring growth regulators found in plants. The end-use product, AmplifyŽ is proposed for use as an aerosol treatment on stored potatoes in warehouses. When applied on harvested potatoes in storage facilities, 2, 6-DIPN will act by preventing the sprouting of potatoes until the commodity is ready for shipping to the fresh market or processing plants. Thus, preserving the fresh quality of potatoes .
Based on the known properties of this compound and the results of toxicity tests conducted on the end-use product, no risks to human health are expected from exposure to this plant growth regulator.
2, 6-DIPN is similar in its structure and function to other naturally occurring growth regulators found in plants. The usage of AmplifyŽ as an indoor aerosol treatment reduces the exposure of most terrestrial and aquatic organisms. Furthermore, the low toxicity, and mitigating label language help minimize any risk to wildlife.
