- Target Pests: Whiteflies, thrips, aphids, and spider mites.
- Application Methods: The product is sprayed on the leaves of the plant. It works best at temperatures between 22EC and 30EC (72EF-86EF), and requires high humidity.

Paecilomyces fumosoroseus Apopka Strain 97 is a naturally occurring insect fungus found in infected and dead insects, and in some soils. The fungus infects the host by penetrating the outer layer (cuticle) of the insect, and proceeding to grow until the insect dies.
There are no expected health risks from use of this fungus as a pesticide. Standardized tests indicate that Paecilomyces fumosoroseus Apopka Strain 97 is not toxic to humans. Because of the limited number of approved uses, people generally would not be exposed to the fungus when it is used as a pesticide. Furthermore, exposure already occurs naturally. Because persons with impaired immune systems may have adverse reactions to the pesticide, such individuals should not mix, load, or apply the pesticide.
No harmful effects to the environment are expected because the approved uses are in greenhouses and interiorscapes. Tests show that the fungus is not toxic to mammals or birds. Before EPA could approve additional uses, especially outdoor uses, the Agency would require additional data to determine whether there were harmful effects to beneficial insects and other nontarget organisms.
Paecilomyces fumosoroseus Apopka Strain 97 was registered (licensed for sale) as an active ingredient in October 1998. As of March 2000, there was one end-use product that contained this active ingredient. EPA would require additional data if an applicant wanted to register a product for outdoor use.
